| Abstract | This introductory reader for beginning Latin is based on the audiolingual method and contains 12 lessons. Materials in this and successive units embody structural linguistic principles and methods, new vocabulary and basic structures being generated from five kernel sentences by substitution, transformation and expansion. Each lesson is an audiolingual exercise having a specific goal and containing pictorial aids, recognition drills, and pattern practices. The lessons are constructed by "frames," and frame corresponding to a picture and its verbal identifier. A programmed workbook and workbook tests are designed for use with the readers.
