Abstract | The Georgia Television Evaluation Project was designed to provide: a model to evaluate the production and effectiveness of an ETV series, a model for the development of instruments and data-gathering procedures, statistical designs for analyzing and interpreting data, a field test of all prototype instruments and data-gathering procedures, a model for continuous evaluation of the GETV Network after the initial assessment studies have been completed, an estimate of cost factors and personnel requirements for operating an evaluation system, a model for the evaluation of the total impact of Instructional Television, and a model for evaluating the total impact of the Public Broadcasting segment of Educational Television. In Volume I the activities directly involved with developing the evaluation model itself are described. After the problem area, purposes, and characteristics of the network are specified in the first chapter, a brief overview of the research literature is presented. This summary is followed in Chapter Three by an overview of the research and evaluation activities. The model itself appears in the fourth chapter. Chapter Five contains recommendations resulting from feasibility studies. The volume concludes with a summary and suggestions for future research. (For related documents, see TM 002 622-635.)
