Abstract | This bibliography of research on counterattitudinal advocacy begins with a list of independent variables, cross-indexed with authors. In the research summaries, the compiler has followed a consistent pattern of organization: (1) the hypotheses are stated first, followed by the independent and dependent variables, (2) a summary of the manipulation is given with indication of types of subjects and the length of time between pretest and experimental manipulation, (3) the topic of the study is given, and (4) the results are summarized. Finally, the compiler summarizes any problems the researcher might have encountered, other interpretations of the data given by other social psychologists, and any quotations of importance found in the reference.
