| Abstract | This is the ninth in a series of interim reports to the Congress concerning the impact of the increasing worldwide use of the metric system and to determine the advantages and disadvantages of its adoption in the United States. This report contains the Department of Defense estimates of its costs in a coordinated national changeover to the metric system. The Department indicated that during the transition period there could be major disadvantages to support of the military forces. Adherence to a national conversion schedule by industry and by the Department of Defense was stressed.
