AbstractThe Texas Education Agency's teacher and teacher aide guide for programs for the education of migrant children discusses the Texas Child Migrant Program. A description of the program, its philosophy of migrant education, its definition of a migrant child, and its goals and objectives are presented. The following topics are also discussed in relation to the Texas Child Migrant Program: nonverbal communication, preparations and planning for teachers and aides, teacher-teacher aide interpersonal relationships, ancillary services, parental involvement, the national migrant record transfer system, the eligibility and parental permission forms, the application for ancillary services, and the use of regional education service center consultants. Suggestions for a procedure for oral language programs, for the utilization of teacher aides, and for an in-service training program are presented in the guide. The following programs are described: (1) the Texas Child Migrant program for 4-year-olds, (2) the Migrant Kindergarten Program, (3) the Seven Month School Program, (4) secondary programs for grades 7-12, and (5) various enrichment programs. Also included is a 14-page bibliography listing curriculum materials, testing materials, professional reference materials, and bibliographies and catalogs which are pertinent to the education of migrant children.
