AbstractThe set of exercises, developed out of an earlier set called "Fragments," and used in conjunction with or separately from it, focuses on the deepening of visual and aural perception and response. The questions and experiences the exercises imply are valid for any age level. Within the two large categories of looking and listening, the exercises are divided into three smaller categories. The first group explores questions of the relationship of images to self. The second poses problems and perceptions caused by changing the image or your relationship to it. The third group then revolves around ways of noticing through more or less formal concepts. Although the exercises are in one way directed toward the activity of looking at or listening to "art," they equally raise questions in a more general context of environmental and social interactions. They can be a focus on visual and aural experience, response and shaping dealing specifically with education in the arts and education of the artist. Different content will be yielded, depending upon the object, image, space, or situation in which they are done, or the discipline area in which they become activities. (LH)
