| Abstract | This monograph, the first in a series of documents being compiled from materials located in the Wisconsin State Educational Accountability Repository, reproduces copies of, or excerpts from, legislation that has been enacted through May 1972 in 19 States for Statewide assessment programs, accountability programs, and PPBS systems. Some of the statutes included were initiated and recommended by State education agencies; others were mandated by State legislatures. The report also includes a 2-page table that indicates at a glance the status of accountability legislation for all the States and outlying possessions of the United States. This publication should be of interest to persons at the State and local level who are responsible for elementary and secondary education in the nation.
