Abstract | Thirty-two secondary schools participated in the testing of: (1) musical literacy (reading and listening); (2) general musical knowledge; and (3) corporate music making. The total number of candidates were 410 pupils of whom 260 were girls, and 150 were boys. The first two parts of the test were based on excerpts from recorded music, presented in suitable sequence and adequately reproduced; therefore, it was necessary to obtain copyright clearance. The effectiveness of the tests were measured by level of discrimination, reliability, and validity, Conclusions of the testing are discussed in detail covering facilities, syllabus, place in curriculum, examining techniques and school-based examinations. Appendices present (1) legal conditions for reproducing recorded material, and (2) statistical analysis of the examination. For related document see TM 001 808. (LS) |
