Abstract | In order to determine the attitudes of foreign students toward the U.S., a questionnaire was issued to students from Asia, Western Europe, Africa, Japan and the Philippines, Latin America and other countries. Questions concerned Americans' attitudes, American food, religion in the U.S., money in the U.S., job equality, automobile dependency, U.S. newspapers, the U.S. education system, U.S. products, materialism in the U.S., the family unit, and desires to become U.S. citizens. It was found that age made a greater difference in foreign student attitude toward the U.S. than did length of residence in the U.S., geographic origin, or sex. Older respondents generally held a more positive attitude toward the U.S. than did their younger counterparts. (HS) |
