| Abstract | This study evaluates the effectiveness of a 4-H TV Science Club Project Series, in Jackson County, Georgia, conducted in January, 1970, by the Georgia Cooperative Extension Service for upper elementary school age students in Georgia. Its objectives are: (1) To obtain information useful to Extension personnel and others interested in planning and improving new and existing programs; (2) To indicate patterns of participation for different age levels; and (3) To indicate television's potential as a general teaching tool. All science teachers in Jackson County conducted pre- and post-tests and adopted programs as part of their science curriculum. Programs were discussed in class following non-school viewing, and students reported on activities related to project. It was determined that television can be used effectively in teaching science and helping students and parents to become more familiar with 4-H Club work. Students in lower grades were more favorable to programs than those in higher grades. (Author/NF) |
