Abstract | The Kentucky Right to Read Institute was intended to present Kentucky librarians and other interested citizens with an introduction to the Right to Read concept and to stimulate thinking and discussion on ways in which libraries and schools might serve this important movement. Participants were educators, librarians, government officials, and private citizens. The program consisted of individual presentations and panel discussions, which were produced and video-taped by the University of Kentucky Television Services. The program was broadcast via the Kentucky Educational Television Network to eleven community colleges scattered across the state, and was viewed by participants on closed circuit television. The problems of producing an institute of this kind are discussed along with the advantages gained by the experimental program. (Author/NH) |
