Abstract | The syllabi included in this package outline the science courses to be taught in the Technical Schools of the Education Department of Victoria (Australia) in grades seven through ten. There is a separate syllabus for each grade, with two parts for grade ten. Each syllabus contains a statement of aims, a list of the topics to be taught (including an indication of the scope and depth of treatment), suitable textbooks and references for the teacher and student, and suggested demonstrations and student laboratory work. All syllabi suggest that physical, earth and life sciences be included in the year's course. For students taking additional science in grade ten, Part II of the syllabus for that year contains subject matter intended to provide a rigorous grounding in physics and chemistry in addition to the general science contained in Part I.
