Abstract | The purpose of the present study is: (1) to describe and analyze existing undergraduate programs in religion; (2) to describe and analyze new curricular developments and experimental efforts in the field; and (3) to present various perspectives on the undergraduate teaching of religion. Thus, essays are included in the document concerning the campus ministry and its relationship to religious studies; religion as an academic discipline; the Catholic University and the academic study of religion; the growth in undergraduate religious studies; the present distribution of religion programs; the goals of organized religion programs; the study of religion in 2-year colleges; cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary studies; and 6 illustrations of styles of religion curricula.
