Abstract | The basic concern of this paper is to identify those demographic, occupational, and organizational variables that might differentiate between those professions that have higher levels of attitudinal militancy from those that exhibit less militancy. Semantic differential attitudinal data was collected from 414 teachers in two school districts and 482 nurses employed in three hospitals. Analysis indicated that attitudinal militancy is a generalized phenomenon across differing professions with organizationally based concerns, particularly frustrated career aspirations, as central differentiating factors.
