Abstract | This anthology includes newly published essays by Daniel U. Levine, Robert J. Havighurst, and J. McVicker Hunt, two previously unpublished reports from the National Study of American Indian Education, and a new guide to resource centers. In addition, 35 papers by 55 contributors concerned with educating disadvantaged and culturally different children have been included. The book is organized into five parts: (1) Introductory perspectives on educating the disadvantaged; (2) Who are the disadvantaged?; (3) Class, race, and society; (4) Programs and prospects; and, (5) Metropolitanism and the eco-system.
