| Abstract | This handbook presents statistical procedures that will assist State and local school officials in making longrange projections for a decade or more. The author suggests several seemingly appropriate procedures but leaves it to the State and local officials to select the procedures that appear most suitable for their specific local conditions. This document is organized around eight chapters that (1) make general observations on statistical projections, (2) examine local school district histories to appraise the problem of applying statistical projection techniques to them, (3) present some summary materials on procedures for making shortrun projections, (4) discuss methods for making unified projections for the State and all its political units, and (5) present materials to aid local districts in making longrange projections.
