| Abstract | This study was concerned with determining the kind of vocational-industrial educational programs that would best suit the needs of Taiwan. The general conditions and provisions of 27 existing vocational-industrial programs were studied to determine their strengths and weaknesses and to provide a set of principles that would serve as guideposts for future development. In the first phase of the study, a set of principles of vocational-industrial education was developed and submitted to teachers, principals, and industrialists for review. During the second phase instruments were developed for data collection and, after validation, were administered to school administrators and teachers, industrial representatives, teacher educators, and national educational administrative personnel. Specific findings were: (1) A good program should meet the needs of industries and the needs of the people, (2) Adequate coordination between the schools and local industries is necessary, and (3) Continued research is needed to insure quality programs of vocational-industrial education.
