Abstract	This publication contains most of the lectures given at the Second Symposium on Applied Linguistics. The theme of the symposium was "The Task of Linguistics with Relation to the Problems of Canadian Bilingualism." Two opening speeches comprise the first section of the proceedings. Documents in the section on general linguistics and its application concern anthropology, contrastive linguistics, stylistics, bilingualism, and translation. The final section includes articles on the teaching of French, English, and Spanish, language laboratories, and the influence of second language learning upon the intellectual development of the child. Texts of the lectures are in English or French. (VM)
