Abstract | This introductory course in Sara-Ngambay, the accepted standard dialect spoken in the town of Moundou in southern Chad, is intended for Westerners who wish to learn to speak the language. An introduction to the course discusses the scope, orientation, and production of the manual and includes an extensive explanatory section on symbolic conventions used in the transcription of Sara-Ngambay. Several maps and a bibliography are also contained in the work. This volume requires the student to assimilate a series of situations through the study of dialogues and grammatical features in each of the 30 lessons. The dialogues, presented in the target language, English, and French, are based on social events common to the lives of the inhabitants of Chad. For the companion volumes see FL002369 and FL002372.
