AbstractThe purpose of this study was to determine whether or not collegiate coordinators evaluated their coordinating functions the same as the corporate coordinators with whom they worked. A graphic rating scale, utilizing the 14 functions developed by Seaverns, was validated by a panel of experts and by a pilot study group and was then sent to 90 collegiate coordinators and 100 corporate coordinators for data collection. Forty-nine of the collegiate coordinators and 40 of the corporate coordinators returned the completed form, and the results were analyzed in non-parametric descriptive form. The collegiate coordinators exhibited considerable trouble in ranking the 14 functions and there appeared to be little agreement among them, while the corporate coordinators tended to experience less problems when ranking the functions but still exhibited little agreement among themselves. A recommendation was that national committee work should continue to seek ways of improving the cooperative efforts of industry and education to make cooperative education plans more effective and efficient.
