Abstract | This analysis, using race and income variables, presents market research findings for the metropolitan Detroit area and for Columbus, Ohio. The four sections are divided into: (I) summary statements for metropolitan Detroit; (II) description of findings for metropolitan Detroit area; (III) summary statements for Columbus data; and (IV) description of findings for Columbus. Sections II and IV present more detailed descriptions of the findings discussed in sections I and III with section III containing an additional statement on differences between the Columbus and Detroit data. Also included are tables for opinion-polling in Detroit and Columbus. Analysis is made of demographic characteristics of the samples in both areas; perceptions of the public school system; evaluation of teachers; evaluation of curriculum; evaluation of school buildings; parental involvement and influence in schools; and racial attitudes regarding schools.
