| Abstract | This objective test for grades 4, 5, and 6 attempts to measure one facet of literature appreciation--interpretive response to imaginative prose and poetry--by asking students to react to a variety of short selections from children's literature. While some questions are designed to test comprehension of meaning, a large number are concerned with the creative extension of meanings and the awareness of literary qualities. Each of the two test forms (A and B) contains 50 multiple-choice questions arranged in two parts of 25 questions each. The questions are based on 14 short literary passages and represent a variety of literary types. Included in this specimen set are (1) a handbook describing test administration, scoring, evaluation, use, development, limitations, and statistical characteristics; (2) form B of the test; (3) a hand scoring key; and (4) an IBM answer sheet.
