| Abstract | All across the country, landscaping and site development are coming to the fore as essential and integral parts of university planning and development. This reprint concentrates on the function of landscape architecture, and briefly examines some of the major responsibilities of the landscape architect in planning a campus. Included are--(1) circulation and parking, (2) transportation, (3) drainage, (4) topsoil, (5) vistas and views, (6) circulation of outdoor spatial form, and (7) maintenance area design. Landscaping details for several major campuses are examined for their functional and aesthetic solution to the improvement of the campus environment. (RH) |
