| Abstract | Provided are biological science laboratory experiments which have been developed and used as a part of an experimental one year undergraduate course in general science for non-science majors. The experiments are directed at the student understanding the balance of chemical and physical processes which must be maintained in order to sustain life, and the importance of our society supporting further research and technological development in the biological sciences. The activities begin with cells and progress through more complex organizational levels. Genetic and hereditary features that characterize living organisms are emphasized. Provided for each experiment are background information, a problem statement, a materials list, laboratory procedures, and questions. (RS) |
