Abstract | THIS BRIEF SUMMARY OF WYOMING'S TITLE I PROJECTS REPORTS THAT USING SUBPROFESSIONAL TEACHER AIDES WAS THE MOST EFFECTIVE APPROACH FOR TEACHING THE DISADVANTAGED AT ALL GRADE LEVELS. THE AIDES ENABLED TEACHERS TO WORK WITH SMALL GROUPS AND TO GIVE MAXIMUM INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION. THREE PROJECTS WERE SUCCESSFUL WITH DEVELOPMENTAL READING IN INSTITUTIONS FOR NEGLECTED AND DELINQUENT CHILDREN. IN PREPARATION FOR CONDUCTING NEXT SUMMER'S CENTERS FOR CHILDREN OF MIGRANT AGRICULTURAL WORKERS, AN INSERVICE WORKSHOP WAS HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING FOR TEACHERS OF MIGRANT CHILDREN. OUTLINES ARE GIVEN OF THE THREE MOST EFFECTIVE PROJECTS--"SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGICAL AND REMEDIAL SERVICE,""INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS," AND "IMPROVEMENT OF EDUCATIONAL ATTITUDES AND SELF CONCEPTS." IN A SEPARATE DOCUMENT PROJECTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE ARE SUMMARIZED IN TABLES AND CHARTS. (AF) |
