AbstractCOMPENSATORY EDUCATION PROJECTS IN WYOMING FUNDED UNDER TITLE I OF THE 1965 ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION ACT ARE EVALUATED IN THIS REPORT. EIGHTY-FIVE PERCENT OF THE PROJECTS HAD DEVELOPMENTAL READING ACTIVITIES, AND SOME OFFERED INSERVICE TEACHER TRAINING, PERSONNEL TRAINING TO DIAGNOSE LEARNING DIFFICULTIES, VOCATIONAL EDUCATION, AND IMPROVED HEALTH SERVICES. OTHER FEATURES OF THE PROJECTS WERE NONPUBLIC SCHOOL PARTICIPATION, PROGRAMS FOR HANDICAPPED CHILDREN, INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS, AND COORDINATION WITH OTHER FEDERAL AGENCIES. PART OF THIS REPORT IS AN OUTLINE OF THE OBJECTIVES, COSTS, NUMBER OF PARTICIPATING STUDENTS, STAFF, AND EVALUATION PLANS OR RESULTS OF SOME OF THE INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS. DATA ON THE AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE IN THE PROJECTS, DROPOUT RATES, NUMBER OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE PROJECTS WHO CONTINUED THEIR EDUCATION, AND STANDARDIZED TEST RESULTS ARE GIVEN IN A NUMBER OF TABLES. SOME OF THE OPERATING PROBLEMS OF THE PROJECTS WERE CAUSED BY THE LATE APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS AND BY THE ANTICIPATION OF FUNDS WHICH WERE NOT MADE AVAILABLE. (LB)
