Abstract | A PROGRAM OF CURRICULUM REVISION HAS RESULTED IN A CURRICULUM GUIDE WHICH DELINEATES THE AIMS, TECHNIQUES, CONTENT, AND SCOPE OF GERMAN INSTRUCTION AT EACH LEVEL OF A 4-LEVEL SEQUENCE IN THE SECONDARY SCHOOLS OF NEW YORK CITY. A MODIFIED AUDIOLINGUAL APPROACH IS STRESSED AND SPECIFIC TECHNIQUES ARE SUGGESTED FOR TEACHING LISTENING, SPEAKING, READING, AND WRITING SKILLS, AND FOR PRESENTING CULTURAL TOPICS. CHECKLISTS OF TOPICAL VOCABULARY ITEMS AND REQUIRED GRAMMATICAL STRUCTURES ARE GIVEN FOR EACH LEVEL. OTHER TOPICS DETAILED ARE TEXTBOOKS AND AUDIOVISUAL RESOURCES, TESTING AND EVALUATION, THE ADVANCED PLACEMENT PROGRAM, TEAM TEACHING, AND PROGRAMED INSTRUCTION. A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF GENERAL AND SPECIFIC REFERENCES FOR TEACHERS IS GIVEN.
