Abstract	The German 'Geisteswissenschaften', in higher education are a bundle of cultural and philosophical disciplines. These monograph reports the situation of students in these studies with special look on the three important disciplines History, German studies and Anglistics, involving the two german kinds of examination, 'Magister' and 'Staatsexamen (for teachers)'. The students were asked in an extensive questionary about their motives, expectations, strategies, attitudes, experiences and wishes. In result the survey can give answers about characteristics, strength and weaknesses of cultural and philosophical disciplines which leave points of discussion for further educational advancement. The current contribution summarises the most important results and conclusions.
