Abstract	The orphan population of Namibias capital city Windhoek has been increasing alarmingly. This paper investigated the problems that are facing orphans in Windhoek. Eight orphans and ten caregivers who migrated to Windhoek were individually interviewed. The findings spotlighted, among other problems, the severe level of food insecurity experienced by these children, who were also unable to attend school due to lack of financial means. The study recommends, among others, that the municipality of Windhoek should develop an internal migration policy stipulating clearly how to facilitate the livelihood of migrants including the orphans
