Abstract | "Reflecting on targets for political research guidelines, the authors argue for more consideration of the real problems of vulnerable social groups among the issues on the research agendas of vocational education and training. Here, the key word seems to be 'employability', which is strongly emphasised by the European Commission and its vocational training programmes without specifying the employers' needs and demands in the different working contexts. But defending a high employability not only has to do with research funds and research agendas, the authors also argue for disciplinary and interdisciplinary clarity when conceptualising vocational training. As in Fischer's contribution, individual learning processes in this article not only have to do with theoretical knowledge, but also with individual biographies, their reconstruction of identities, their possibilities for action, as well as their reintegration into society."
