Abstract	Dieser Beitrag analysiert die sozialen Funktionen von Emotionen auf der Ebene des Individuums, der sozialen Gruppe sowie der normativen Ordnung. Ziel des Beitrags ist es, zentrale Ergebnisse der Emotionsforschung unterschiedlicher Disziplinen überblicksartig aufzubereiten und dadurch die erziehungswissenschaftliche Relevanz der sozialen Funktionen von Emotionen herauszuarbeiten. Dies geschieht erstens mit Blick auf die kognitiven Konsequenzen von Emotionen und deren Bedeutung für die noch immer weit verbreitete Annahme überwiegend rational handelnder Akteure. Zweitens wird dargestellt, auf welche Weise Emotionen soziale Kohäsion und Integration in Gruppen beeinflussen. Schließlich wird drittens illustriert, dass diese Funktion auch auf normative gesellschaftliche Ordnungen übertragen werden kann, in dem die Rolle von Emotionen bei der Befolgung und Durchsetzung sozialer Normen in Rechnung gestellt wird. (DIPF/Orig.). This contribution investigates the social functions of emotion on the intra-individual level, the level of social groups, and with respect to normative social order. The article aims at reviewing current research on emotion from different disciplines to highlight the relevance of the social functions of emotion for basic issues in educational science. This is accomplished in three consecutive steps: First, the article portrays the multi-faceted cognitive consequences of emotions and highlights their implications for the still widespread assumptions of the rational actor model. Second, the contribution examines the effects of individual and collective emotions on social integration and cohesion in groups and communities. Third, it is illustrated how these effects can be translated from the level of face-to-face interaction to the level of normative order by taking into account the role of emotion in norm compliance and norm enforcement.
