(DIPF/mu). From the final methodical comment (translation): The fundamentals of information theory are abstract and need a mathematical apparatus that is, at least in the lower secondary school level, not available. The mainly qualitative model reflections presented in the activities allow a comprehensible insight into information theory. The creation of concepts is always preceded by a process of abstraction. That's why the path of the presented activities leads over the binary decision trees. Thus, from a very different point of view, one reaches the well-known binary number representations and introduces the concepts of information content and entropy on the way. |
