Abstract | One of the interesting aspects of this study has centred on the extent to which 'cooperation', 'sharing', 'caring for each other', and 'mutual respect', terms used often in classroom and behaviour management discourse, can and/or should be mandated. How are these terms understood by teachers? How do the children 'make sense' of such ideas? How do teachers act to instill these concepts into the daily routine of the classroom?- This contribution was submitted by the authors as a paper for the 25th ATEE Annual Conference in Barcelona 2000.
