Abstract	"At the end of 1997, Cedefop launched a project to produce financing portraits of the vocational education and training (VET) within the individual Member States of the European Union." The information given in section 1 comprises the political and economic, the legal and administrative background and its significance for the financing of vocational education and training in Sweden. Section 2 focuses on initial vocational training in upper secondary school and apprenticeship in and outside of it. Section 3 deals with municipal adult education and folk high schools concerning the vocational part, the staff training and other forms of continuing vocational education and training. Section 4 reviews sources of funding and financing distribution mechanisms for training opportunities offered to unemployed people. Combined training programmes are the subject of the section 5. The final section highlights the future of financing VET: trends and perspectives. (DIPF/St.).
