Abstract | Since its foundation in 1946 and until the end of the seventies, the UNESCO was - after the UNO - one of the most important international organisations of the world. At that time all political areas were defined in relation to education, science and culture, and vice versa one was conscious of the fact that international politics also determined the direction and power of education, science and culture, and conversely one was conscious of the fact that international politics determined the direction and power of education, science and culture. Because teachers have - again and again - been acknowledged to be the most important factor in schooling, the UNESCO - in agreement with the ILO - adopted an international recommendation on the status of teachers in 1966. The following essay attempts to show how this international document on the status of teachers came into being. (DIPF/orig.). |
