Abstract | The document comprises 7 papers presented at the International Seminar on Women's Education and Empowerment. The seminar was convened by the Unesco Institute for Education (UIE) with the Principal Regional Office for Asia and Pacific (PROAP), and held in Hamburg, in 1993. A total number of 16 participants from different regions of the world attended the seminar. Its general objectives were: "(1) to exchange experiences in promoting the empowerment of women through different educational programmes, both formal and non-formal; (2) to discuss the theoretical issues arising from the practice of the education of women; (3) to develop research designs on women's education and empowerment for possible collaboration in selected areas; and (4) to explore ways and means of operationalizing the term 'empowerment'".
