Abstract | The college student population has the opportunity to be physically active before they enter their field of employment through physical activity classes offered at the university. A popular class taken by student's is basketball. This study investigated college students experiences in an intermediate basketball class with appropriate instructional practices (AIP) being applied to their basketball experience. For this study 24 college students were interviewed regarding their experiences in class dealing with AIP. It was generally found that these students felt that the time allotted to play was sufficient, that they felt they improved their skills, that they were challenged as they played basketball, and received joy and satisfaction as they played. The findings from this study suggest that college physical activity instructors should seriously implement AIP's when teaching college activity classes to make the student experiences more enjoyable and successful for the student.
