Abstract	Several barriers and challenges accompany the re-entrance of teachers with international teaching certificates into the teaching profession. In our book chapter, we discuss these challenges and place a special focus on the expectations for and characterizations of these teachers. By analyzing applications for a re-professionalization program, we reveal that this group of teachers does see themselves as holding specific competencies and roles connected to their immigration background; competencies and roles that are expected by stake holders in the school system. Instead, their main motivation to re-enter their profession is the overall joy they find in teaching and the opportunity to support children's development. (DIPF/Orig.).
