Abstract | As evident from the previous chapters, the educational systems in the V4 countries have gone through significant change since the political upheavals of 1989. In this chapter we will take a closer look across the individual V4 countries to highlight specific features of curriculum policy and development. We will explore the nature of curriculum change, we will reflect on the shift towards decentralization of curriculum development, we will focus on the challenge of implementation of curriculum reform in the V4 countries, and we will highlight curriculum reform as an instrument for school improvement. Finally, we will deal with curriculum as a 'provider' of aims and contents of school education. Some prospect of future development in the area of curriculum will be offered to close our considerations. |
