Abstract | Undoubtedly, globalisation contributes to interconnected info- technology, communication and mobility, internationalisation opportunities, and the greater diffusion and assimilation of different cultures and lifestyles across the world. However, it is also inevitable that excessive acceptance towards 'a global village' may expose the prevalence of social problems within a society, especially when local norms and traditions have become common value and practices among the people. In this respect, Tamuri and Abdul Razak (2004) describes social problems as a deviating way of life opposing the common value of people in a society. The diffusion of social problems amid globalisation has consistently raised a wide-ranging debate on how to understand and to appreciate the notion and practice of manner, morality, nobility and common values among the younger generation, such as school students. Other studies have found a decline of morality and social value which are strongly correlated with the increase of youth problems (Abd Rahim & Hashim, 2005; Engku Alwi, 2009; Haji Othman et al., 2013). |
