Abstract | Tracking the measures taken by the Polish and Canadian governments in recent years, and listening to the language used by politicians responsible for education, a careful observer of social life will realize that the continuing reform of the educational system in Poland and Canada is part of a larger plan. Using the term "client" or "consumer" in relation to a student, speaking of "educational services" instead of education and upbringing, using in supervision procedures known from the socalled total quality management, stressing the need for diversi? cation of educational institutions and universities to make them compete on a commercial basis, and attempting to limit the scope of public education for the sake of nonpublic education are visible signs that education has become another area subject to the neoliberal management concept, already known in the public administration (New Public Management). |
