Abstract | This article is based on the assumption of the universal action of God, which accounts for the Christian interest in the Muslim conception of the "Holy Spirit". An exploration of the Qur'anic speech regarding the Holy Spirit is followed by a discussion of various Muslim interpretations with respect to interreligious dialogue. This reveals exciting systematic implications for different ways of speaking and systemic divergency. A convergence with Christian idioms appears possible where the Muslim Holy Spirit is expressed as a created medium of communication or as an uncreated divine reality. The Muslim distinction between attributes of action or essence then evokes the question of whether a common platform for systematic theological discussion can be seen and found in the Muslim discussion of God's attributes. |
