AbstractGiven the current global situation, there are worrying indicators such as declining activity, inequality of girls and women, an increasing burden of chronic diseases, and declining time spent on physical education in school curricula. In Lithuania, students' physical literacy has been declining recently. Students participate too little in sports, have little interest in the world of sports, and do not respect values. An effective process of teaching values is considered to be the most effective way to prevent and reduce social problems. The importance of value education in middle school age - during adolescence, can be explained by the fact that teenagers try to find their place in the world, change themselves to adapt to it, and change the environment to adapt to themselves. Introducing the student to the world of values is an important task of the formal and non-formal education process, which has social and moral value, and the school, as one of the most important institutions for youth education, must look for new and modern forms and methods of working with students. Education based on Olympic values can and must help to address the educational needs of children and young people. Therefore, this stage of the development of the child's personality, in our opinion, is of great interest and requires careful study. Depending on the values that the younger generation (middle school students) will recognize as meaningful, they will be guided by them in life, which form our future society. Research aim was to investigate the attitudes of 7-8th grade students towards Olympic values. Research methods and organization. In order to implement the research goals and formulated tasks, the following research methods were used in the work: scientific literature analysis, questionnaire survey and statistical analysis. In August-October 2020, a questionnaire survey involving students of 7-8th grade from Klaipeda "Gedminu", "Vyturio", "Prano Masioto" and Tauralaukio progymnasiums was conducted (N = 266 respondents). A review of the differences between athletic and non-athletic students revealed that the value of respect was paramount for both groups. It turned out that the values of excellence (z = -6.108; p = 0.000) were statistically more significant for students who did sports. Fair play was the most important for non-athletes (average rank 132.51). Value of excellence (z = -4.284; p = 0.000) was observed to be statistically more significant in athletic boys than in non-athletic boys. The values of excellence (z = -4.062; p = 0.000), and joy (z = -2.507; p = 0.012) were statistically more important for female athletes than for non-athletes. In comparison with non-sporting students, it is noticeable that athletic students valued all Olympic values more. (Autor).

Atsizvelgiant i dabartine pasauline situacija, pastebimi nerima keliantys rodikliai, tokie kaip mazejantis vaiku ir jaunimo fizinis aktyvumas, didejanti neuzkreciamuju, letiniu ligu nasta. Lietuvoje pastaruoju metu mokiniu sportinis isprusimas silpsta. Mokiniai per mazai sportuoja, mazai domisi sporto pasauliu, negerbia vertybiu. Manoma, kad efektyviausias budas sumazinti siu problemu masta yra efektyvus vertybiu ugdymas. Tyrime dalyvavo 7-8 klasiu mokiniai (N = 266). Tyrimas atskleide, kad sportuojantiems ir nesportuojantiems mokiniams svarbiausia olimpine vertybe yra pagarba. Apzvelgus sportuojanciu ir nesportuojanciu mokiniu olimpiniu vertybiu skirtumus nustatyta, kad meistriskumas (z= -4,284; p = 0,000) buvo statistiskai reiksmingesnis sportuojantiems berniukams. Sportuojancioms mergaitems statistiskai svarbesnes buvo meistriskumo (z = -4,062; p = 0,000) ir dziaugsmo (z = -2,507; p = 0,012) vertybes nei nesportuojancioms. (Autor).
