Abstract | From its beginning aesthetical reasoning has gradually developed to a merely philosophical science. Thus a main interest in the theory of beauty and the theory of arts has come to the fore, while the cognitive character of aesthetical behaviour was increasingly ignored. The present article points out, that aesthetical and psychological thinking meet in the concept of 'sensitive cognition'. Therefore three aesthetical theories of sensitive cognition (Baumgarten - Kant - Croce) are examined. One of the essentials these theories have in common is the supposition of a human 'ability to synthesize'. It is stated, that - from a psychological point of view - human memory represents the corresponding ability. In connection with the main thesis (teaching music means developing 'sensitive cognition') the results of scientific research in auditive memory are summarized and suggestions are made for changing the research design. At the end of the article primary heuristic results are reported. (DIPF/Orig.). |
