Abstract | Lehrkräfte stellen zentrale Akteure im schulischen Kontext dar. Teachers are key players in the educational context. By their teaching they influence signifi-cantly the learning outcome and the development process of students. At the same time, the experiences and demands of a teacher in everyday school life are very diverse and are reflected in the quality of teaching and the work-related well-being. An influential variable in this case is the professional expertise of teachers. In this context motivational orientation as a part of teachers expertise plays an important role as a factor of resilience against stress and as a predictor of teaching quality. Nevertheless the current state of reseach offers only a small insight into how the single aspects of motivational orientation affect the quality of tea-ching and well-being of biology teachers and how these aspects correlate with one another. According to Kunter (2008) motivational orientation is composed of the motivation of study choice, the self-efficacy expectations and the enthusiasm of a teacher.A longitudinal study of biology teachers aims to analyze the influence of motivational orienta-tion on the teaching quality and the work-related well-being of teachers. In addition, the internal correlations of the subscales of motivational orientation will be examined and the weekly effects of enthusiasm will be clarified. Finally, the impact of the retrospective motiva-tion of teachers´study choice on the motivational orientation, teaching quality and the work-related well-being will be explored. |
