Abstract | The study analyzes a few matters of the modern elite sports being manipulated by the vested political interests, with a special focus on the Olympic movement history and the recent devastating effects of the dirty politics on the global sport movement. The study traces the Olympic Games history since 1912 Olympics in Stockholm to highlight the political pressures on the Russian national Olympic team. The study gives an account of many violations of Olympic principles in the 1912 Olympics in the wrestling, rowing, equestrian, tennis and fencing sport disciplines; with a special consideration of the Finnish team performance which was subject to contradictions and discussions of the Russian and Finnish sport authorities, with no detriment to the acknowledgement of the Finnish team accomplishments broadly covered by the Russian mass media at that time. The 1912 Olympics in Stockholm helped the Russian society comprehensively analyze the progress of national sports. The study data and analyses show that the political pressures on the global sport movement is nothing new as they are deeply rooted in its history, with the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm providing a typical case in point with the Russian team being at that time subject to the rampant political blackmailing campaign.
