| Abstract | This article chronicles the development of a child's language acquisition predisposition and mental capacity from preschool until the end of primary school and beyond. This fundamental information aims to provide a greater appreciation for the new and still emerging, albeit sometimes still not recognized, brain-based evidence on language-acquisition research. Such evidence illustrates potential support for research in language development, as well as the risks of over-stating the research. Additionally, it is suitable to suggest necessary consequences and adaptions in language learning and teaching concept in early institutionalized language learning. Growing up bilingually in preschool and primary school is of advantage for a number of reasons. The chapter reviews the existing findings of bilingualism, including the necessary (foreign) language requirements. (Verlag, adapt). |
