Abstract | Although it has had completely different labels in various eras, improving students' fitness has been an important aim of physical education from its very beginning. Contemporary pedagogical approaches focusing on this objective have been regarded as extremely ambiguous and contradictory. On that account the paper will discuss and evaluate an approach which is called implicit or functional training, i.e. adaptive processes realized through motor or tactical learning. Former analyses have been evaluated as rather effective, but there are still different research problems which suggest further approaches. As a consequence, this article initially deals with a didactical analysis of fitness training to present arguments in favour of this issue; in a second step, the necessary and basic terminological foundations are laid. Chapter 3 presents an analysis of the status quo of research in sports science with reference to the issue at hand. Subsequently, a multithread study is presented showing that in PE an implicit training of strength is equivalent to or more effective than intentional training. Finally, remarks on planning lessons in physical education round off the paper. Verf.-Referat. |
