Verf.-Referat. This paper addresses the question of what is the subject of physical education. The change from the theory of "Leibeserziehung" (theory of body education) to the theory of "Sportpädagogik" (theory of physical education) is taken as the starting point of the discussion. The definition of the subject is traced through a pragmatic handling of teaching sports to the current generation of curricula. As a result, we can distinguish a persistence of extracurricular sports with its specific forms of sportive activities as the subject of physical education. Changes have taken place regarding the educational goals only, without affecting the subject itself. The second part of the article deals with a more movement- than sports-oriented understanding of physical education. We focus on the functional or professional meaning of the subject itself - thus allowing problem-oriented approaches to movement and/or sportive activities. As a conclusion, teaching and learning in P. E. directly dependent on the reflection of the subject to avoid dealing only superficially with the instruction of skills or exercises. Verf.-Referat. |
