Abstract | The higher school of physical culture and sport of Immanuel Kant Baltic federal university is the only educational institution of higher vocational training in the field of physical culture in the Kaliningrad region. The history of the higher school of physical culture and sport started in the 80s. Formation of higher vocational training in the field of physical culture entailed great and various difficulties such as lack of teaching personnel, clearly low-standard methodological basis and poor library stock. Nowadays over 600 students learn at the higher school and personnel is being trained in four specialities and training directions: "Physical culture and sport", Bachelor's and Master's programmes in "Physical culture" and Bachelor's programme in "Choreography". The teaching staff of the Higher school of physical culture and sport of Immanuel Kant BFU is facing the future with confidence and optimism.Establishment of Master's programmes in the directions: "Youth activity management", "Economy and management in the sphere of physical culture and sport", "Sports journalism", and development of the double degree programmes are in the plans of the higher school. The scientific potential of teachers, postgraduates, doctoral students and higher school personnel and their directive to competitiveness in the European Union ensure real achievements of perspective goals.
